British Winter Championships

Day 2 – Friday 16th December

Girl’s 4 x 100 Freestyle Relay

Congratulations to Celeste Andrew (100m Free – 1:02.95), Megan Cook (100m Free – 1:01.59), Georgina Pryor (100m Free – 57.53) and Emily Hills (100m Free – 1:01.68).

As an experience, the girls made the most of their opportunity, to see swimmers going off and recording splits of 55/56 secs in the first heat had the nerves working overtime, but the manner in which they rose to the occasion was inspiring. As a coach you ask swimmers to go out fast and commit on the first 50m and the girls did exactly that, to see the confidence growing swimming against the best teams in the UK was fantastic and they achieved so much.

On the day, George competed in 2 events:

  1. The 100m Individual Medley, where her time of 1:05.77 was just outside of her PB, but was her 2nd fastest time ever.
  2. 50m Butterfly – in her preferred event, Georgie qualified for the B Final in a time of 27.47secs. In the final Georgie attacked the race from the start and finished in 2nd place in an improved time of 27.08sec, just 0.06 down on her PB.

This was a great day for the Club, to see the girls competing in the relay against the best teams in the country will hopefully give them the encouragement to step up their game, they have a chance tomorrow in the Medley relay.
