With some 40 swimmers competing at Basildon over the weekend and therefore unavailable for selection, a much depleted Mini League team swam at Brentwood on Saturday night and achieved some outstanding results.
On the night, another challenging environment, not least for the spectators, many thanks to all those who attended and watched from less than ideal positions! Many thanks to all those that helped support the team poolside, and a certain Charlie Stevens who claimed to provide the Swim of the night??
With a much changed team, the advantage from the coaches position is that in selection we are not necessarily able to give swimmers their no 1 choice event. Swimming is about stretching boundaries and challenging swimmers, it is great to see those swimmers then rise to the challenge of doing different events or in some cases swimming up in relay events and competing at a higher level. Some of the relay splits were outstanding.
Final points on the night:
Detailed results including relay splits are on the file below:
- 7 first places on the night were achieved by Michael Mannix, Ashleigh Jolley, Francesca Vann, Estelle Pierrejean (x2 in the 50 Brst and 100 Free), and on their Mini League debut – Lacey Buss & Alexander Filionescu,
- 10 PB’s in individual races by Kai Henson (50 Back 0:37.72), Estelle Pierrejean (50 Brst 0:41.50), Airon White (50 Brst 0:45.69), Xavier Pierrejean (50 Brst 0:49.10), Esme Stringer (50 Brst 0:51.90), Sophie Brennan (50 Brst 0:53.58), Lacey Buss (50 Fly 0:40.43) Joshua Hutchinson (50 Fly 0:47.41), Isobel Sanders (50 Free 0:38.42), Alexander Filionescu (50 Free 0:39.59)
Overall there were some great individual results and times achieved.
Next round 9th June in Basildon – where spectator accommodation will not be a problem!!!
